Terms & Conditions

The plain terms for using this site. Short, because it is a reading site.

The short version

This is a personal website where I publish writing and point to my work. You are welcome to read it, share it, and quote it with attribution. It comes with no warranties, and nothing on it is professional advice. That is most of it; the rest is detail.

Using the site

Use the site in good faith. Do not try to break it, scrape it abusively, overload it, or use it to harm others. Beyond that, read as much as you like.

The writing is mine

The essays, pages, and photographs here are my work, and I keep the copyright unless a page says otherwise. You are welcome to quote a passage with a link back, and to share links freely. Please do not republish whole pieces as your own, or feed them wholesale into a product, without asking first. If you want to reuse something more substantially, just ask. I am usually glad to say yes.

Code is its own thing

My open source projects are licensed separately, under the licenses in their own repositories. Detour, for example, is GPL. Those licenses govern the code, not these terms.

No warranties

The site is provided as is. I try to keep it accurate and online, but I make no promise that it is complete, current, or error-free, and I am not liable for what you do with what you read here.

Not professional advice

Nothing here is legal, financial, technical, or theological advice for your particular situation. It is one person thinking out loud. Talk to a qualified professional before you act on anything that matters.

I link to other people’s sites because I think they are worth your time, not because I control or vouch for everything on them. Once you follow a link, that site’s terms and privacy practices apply, not mine.

Changes

These terms can change as the site grows. The current version always lives here.
